Tsinghua University offers 38 undergraduate programs to international students（see Appendix for program catalog）. The undergraduate programs have a schooling system of 4 years, except that the architecture program requires 5 years, the Biomedical and Biopharmaceutical Sciences program requires 8 years, get the M.D.. The programs are delivered in Chinese or bilingually in Chinese and English. Bachelor’s degree and graduation certificate are awarded to those who have finished all the required course work and passed thesis defense.
Foreign citizens under 25 and in good health, with:
(1) Certificate of Graduation from senior high school
(2) Certificate of HSK (Chinese Proficiency Test) Band 6 or above
The qualified applicants are encouraged to apply for Chinese Government Scholarship (CGS). The scholarship application should be directed to the Chinese Embassy or Consulates in the applicant’s home country. The application is accepted from early January to early April each year.
The applicants may also apply to Tsinghua University for Beijing Government Scholarship (BGS) or Tsinghua University Scholarship (TUS), by submitting the Application Form for Tsinghua University Scholarship.
(1) The completed Foreigner’s Application Form for Admission to Undergraduate Programs of Tsinghua University
(2) Original or notarized photocopies of senior high school certificate and schooling records
(3) Certificate of HSK Band 6 or the notarized photocopy
(4) Certificate of expected graduation issued by senior high school (for applicants who will be graduating from senior high school in July)
(5) Three copies of applicant’s recent photo (cap-free, 2-inch size)
(6) Completed Letter of Recommendation from senior high school/institution
(7) A photocopy of passport (pages with photo, visa or residence permit)
(8) For applicants who are studying in a university, additional materials are required, such as schooling records, on-going study certificate and recommendation from the university
(9) For applicants under 18, a notarization of guarantors in China is required
(10) The completed Application Form for Tsinghua University Scholarship (if applicable)
Supplementary materials shall be provided upon request.
Step 1: Complete On-line Application on the website of Foreign Student Affairs Office, Tsinghua University (http://intlstudent.cic.tsinghua.edu.cn). Print and sign two hard copies of the Application Form produced by the system after all the information submitted is verified.
Step 2: Submit the application materials listed above to Foreign Student Affairs Office, Tsinghua University, by post mail or in person.
For applicants of Arts and Design, the application materials shall be submitted to Student Affairs Office, Academy of Arts and Design, Tsinghua University.
On-line application: March 8 - April 2, 2010.
Hardcopies of application materials due: March 29 - April 9, 2010.
(1) Subjects of Written Examination for Science, Engineering and Management Programs: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and English.
(2) Subjects of Written Examination for Law, Journalism, Humanities and Social Sciences Programs: Basic Chinese Language, Chinese Writing, General Knowledge, and English.
(3) Subjects of Written Examination for Arts and Design Programs: Chinese Writing, General Knowledge, Sketch, Quick Sketch, and Color Painting.
Extra exams are requested for some programs: Sketch for Architecture Program, Oral Test for English and Japanese Programs, and Mathematics for Experimental Class of Social Sciences.
Interview may also be requested by some department/schools.
Written Examination: May 15 - 16, 2010
The applicants to be interviewed will be notified after written exams.
The applicants may inquire for entrance exam scores and admission status via the On-line Application System on the website of Foreign Student Affairs Office in early June. Admission Notice, Visa Application Form for Study in China (JW202), and Form of Physical Examination Record for Foreigners will be issued to the admitted applicants in late June.
The admitted students should bring their Passport, Admission Notice, Visa Application Form (JW202), and Form of Physical Examination Record for Foreigners as well as Blood Test Record to the Embassy or Consulate of the People’s Republic of China, and apply for a student visa (X visa). In early September the students shall come to Foreign Student Affairs Office, Tsinghua University for admission registration before the deadline indicated on the Admission Notice. The X visa holders must apply for a Residence Permit within 30 days after arriving in China.
